Streaming via AirPlay

You can send video and audio output to your device via AirPlay.

For Mac: In the Display Settings window, choose Apple TV from the AirPlay View menu. You can check “Show mirroring options in the menu bar (if available)”. This will speed up the AirPlay menu. When finished, configure the AirPlay display using the setup window menu or the system menu.

For iOS or iPadOS: Swipe up from the top right corner (iPhone with home button) or top right down (iPad, iPhone with Face ID) to show Control Center. Tap Display mirror, then choose Zoom for Apple TV. When the session is finished, bring up Control Center again and tap Stop Mirroring.

You can already start or start a video chat, or you can start it after login.

Rotating your iPhone or iPad horizontally to fit the width of your Apple TV makes sense. Follow the symmetrical rotation. There is one exception. FaceTime on iPhone stopped running via AirPlay in several versions before iOS. It works well with all other apps.

By default, it provides AirPlay audio to Zoom for Apple TV. This can cause echoes and large feedback loops depending on the loudness of the sound in the speaker and the location of the input device’s microphone.

You cannot individually control the audio output of your iPhone or iPad. However, in macOS, you can use the Audio Settings window to select your Mac’s built-in speakers or headphone jack.
